Leading global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills has bolstered its Asia practice by promoting seven new counsel in the region.

These appointments are part of this year's 26-counsel promotion round, and follow last week's promotion of six new partners in Asia.

The new counsel are:

Antony Crockett, Arbitration/Business and Human Rights, Hong Kong

Antony is a senior and experienced practitioner with a significant regional and international market profile in business and human rights.  He is qualified in Australia (Victoria), England and Wales, and Hong Kong SAR and also acts as an advocate in international arbitration proceedings and in arbitration-related court proceedings.

Jojo Fan, Litigation, Hong Kong

Fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin, Jojo advises clients on contentious banking litigation, mis-selling cases, financial regulatory investigations and enforcement proceedings. She also advises Hong Kong-listed companies on boardroom, shareholder and joint venture disputes. Jojo graduated from the University of Hong Kong with bachelor's degrees in law and social sciences (government and laws), and is qualified in both Hong Kong and England and Wales.

Stella Hu, International Arbitration, Beijing

Stella is an experienced and trilingual Mainland Chinese arbitration specialist with experience in complex cross-border disputes. She has strong client relationships with Chinese State-owned companies, private companies and financial institutions. A native of China, she obtained a bachelor's degree in law from the University of Bristol, UK.

Although Stella is currently based in Hong Kong, she will transfer to Beijing later this year, subject to regulatory approvals.

Charles Kim, Corporate, Seoul

Charles advises Korean and multinational clients on Korea-related cross-border M&A transactions and general corporate matters across sectors, including technology, entertainment, energy and consumer products. He practised in Hong Kong for over eight years before relocating to Seoul. Charles received his JD, cum laude, from Harvard Law School and a bachelor's degree in economics and international relations, with distinction, from Stanford University.

Kathryn Thornton, Telecommunications, Media and Technology, Singapore

Kathryn is a highly experienced corporate and commercial lawyer, specialising in strategic projects in the telecommunications, media and technology industry. Kathryn graduated from the University of Technology Sydney, with degrees in law and international studies and the university medal for law. She has worked in Australia, Myanmar, Singapore and the United Kingdom, and has extensive experience in emerging markets.

Daniel Waldek, Construction, Energy and Infrastructure Disputes, Singapore

Daniel is highly rated disputes lawyer specialising in construction, energy and infrastructure disputes covering projects across Asia Pacific. He graduated from the University of Oxford with a bachelor's degree in jurisprudence, is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales and the BVI, and is a Recognised Foreign Lawyer with the Singapore International Commercial Court.

Charles Wang, Equity Capital Markets, Hong Kong

Charles is an experienced equity capital markets lawyer, resident in Hong Kong. His practice focuses on equity capital market transactions, initial public offerings in Hong Kong, and compliance with the securities laws and listing rules of Hong Kong.

邝嘉德律师是资深且经验丰富的律师,他在亚洲及国际商业与人权事务方面拥有市场知名度。他具有澳大利亚(维多利亚州)、英格兰与威尔士以及香港特区的律师执业资格,并在国际仲裁以及仲裁相关的法庭诉讼程序中担任讼辩律师。

范芷君(Jojo Fan),香港办公室诉讼部

范芷君律师精通英语、广东话和普通话,擅长处理有争讼的银行诉讼、不当销售案件、金融监管调查和强制执行程序。她还就董事会、股东和合资纠纷向香港上市公司提供咨询服务。范律师毕业于香港大学,拥有法律和社会科学(政治学与法学)学士学位,取得香港、英格兰与威尔士律师执业资格。

胡佳(Stella Hu),北京办公室国际仲裁部

胡佳律师是中国内地背景的国际仲裁律师,她精通三种语言,擅长处理复杂的跨境争议,经验丰富。她与中国国有企业、民营企业及金融机构建立了牢固的工作关系。胡律师于英国布里斯托大学取得法学士学位。

胡律师现驻香港,将于今年晚些时候调往北京(待监管部门批准)。
