Herbert Smith Freehills’ market-leading mergers and acquisitions (M&A) team has earned further industry recognition for its expertise and pre-eminent practice, collecting two coveted awards at the second annual 2019 Mergermarket Australia M&A Awards.
The firm was named both M&A Legal Adviser of the Year and Cross Border M&A Legal Adviser of the Year.
The firm’s M&A team received these awards in recognition of its work on market-defining, innovative and high profile deals in FY18/19, including advising: Wesfarmers on the separation of Coles’ supermarkets, retail liquor and convenience store businesses; BHP on its A$14.6b sale of US Shale oil and gas assets; CBA on the A$4.13b sale of its global asset management business; Amcor on its redomiciliation to Jersey and parallel acquisition of Bemis Company; and Healthscope on its $4.5b acquisition by Brookfield.
