This marks the return of Lesetja to Herbert Smith Freehills from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer where he was an associate in its antitrust, competition and trade practice group in London.

Lesetja handles all aspects of competition and antitrust regulation, including merger control, cartels and other prohibited behavioural conduct in South Africa and across Africa. His practice also includes other regulatory fields such as advertising, postal, gambling as well as consumer protection. Lesetja has advised clients in various industries including real estate investment firms, packaged industrial gas manufacturers, fast moving consumer goods producers, logistics firms, financial institutions and private equity firms.
Jean Meijer, the firm's Johannesburg Managing Partner, commented:

"We are delighted to welcome Lesetja back to the firm. His strong technical capabilities strengthen our competition and antitrust offering in South Africa and across the continent. His experience working abroad also adds value to the cross-border matters we advise on, particularly with the increasingly broad scope of regulatory regimes globally."

On his re-joining the firm, Lesetja Morapi said:

"Herbert Smith Freehills has always been at the forefront of developments in competition and antitrust laws and is well-placed to advise clients in navigating the legal challenges this constantly evolving area brings. I am excited to be back at the firm and to be working again with the teams in Johannesburg and across the firm's global network."
