Georgia is an Associate in the Construction Disputes practice in London.

Georgia’s practice focuses on the resolution of large scale projects and construction disputes. She has experience in dealing with claims involving defective works, misleading or deceptive conduct as well as contractual claims regarding extension of time, variations and delay. 

Georgia has acted in various dispute resolution processes including adjudications, mediations, arbitrations and court proceedings, including in both state Supreme Courts in Australia and the Federal Court of Australia.

Background

Georgia has a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (International Relations and Middle East Studies) from Deakin University. 

Georgia was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria in 2020, and the federal courts in 2021.

Selected matters

  • acting for a government entity in one of the largest and most complex construction disputes to be heard before the courts in Australia. Proceedings arose from the construction of a hospital, raising issues of delay and quantum, as well as more technical issues including architectural and building services design, lead and fluid dynamics, ICT (information, communications and technology), materials science, façade and security
  • acting for Project Co in relation to various issues on the West Gate Tunnel Project in Melbourne, Victoria
  • acting for the Port of Melbourne in Federal Court of Australia proceedings arising from claims of misleading or deceptive conduct and unconscionable conduct by a stevedore
  • acting for EnergyAustralia and Centennial Coal in relation to New South Wales Supreme Court proceedings and other disputes arising in respect of a water treatment facility recently constructed for the Mount Piper Power Station and Springvale mine in NSW. 
  • acting for Heathgate Resources and Quasar Resources, Australian subsidiaries of US-based General Atomics, in Supreme Court of South Australia proceedings relating to native title mining agreements
