Herbert Smith Freehills' competition partner Kim Dietzel and litigation of counsel Jasveer Randhawa has been showcased in this year's renowned Hot 100 report, published by industry magazine The Lawyer.

The Hot 100 is an annual report which highlights the most influential and prominent lawyers in the industry from in-house, private practice and the bar. The publication gathers together 100 of the most notable practitioners in the market, all of whom are making stand-out contributions to the shape of the legal industry today.

Regarded as one of the go-to advisers on cartel matters and competition litigation, Kim acts on a full range of EU and UK competition law issues. She advises a range of clients, including in the transport, aviation, financial services, consumer goods and industrial sectors. She regularly speaks at international conferences and has published extensively on competition issues, including with respect to leniency and follow on litigation. Kim also advised Virgin Atlantic on the regulatory aspects of the airline's landmark secured bond financing which won "Finance Team of the Year" at all three major legal awards (Legal Business, Legal Week and The Lawyer), including being named the Most Innovative Law Firm by the Financial Times in securitisation.

Promoted to Of Counsel earlier this year, Jasveer was the lead senior associate on a landmark case for accountancy firm KPMG and its successful defence of a judicial review challenge by Holmcroft Properties. This was in respect of KPMG’s role as independent reviewer of Barclays bank’s redress scheme for mis-selling interest rate-hedging products. This case was included in the Lawyer's Top 20 Cases of 2016.  She has also recently worked on a case for EDF Energy in respect of a judicial review relating to the next proposed new nuclear power station at Sizewell and is currently advising a client in the shale gas industry on an upcoming fracking dispute as well as acting pro bono for the AIRE Centre in a case regarding access to benefits for non-EU citizens who have an EU citizen child.
