For a number of years Herbert Smith Freehills has proactively donated funds to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) to help provide urgently needed medical assistance globally. This financial assistance allows MSF to react to emergencies as soon as they occur and give high quality care to those who need it most.
MSF is the world’s leading independent organisation for medical humanitarian aid and every day more than 24,000 MSF field staff are providing assistance to people caught in crises around the world including in conflict zones, refugee camps and natural disaster areas – wherever the need is greatest – and we are immensely proud of our collaboration with this world-leading disaster relief charity.
Our relationship with MSF has always been one of trust and we work together to identify opportunities to strengthen and bring positive experiences back in to our organisations. This success is built on honesty and transparency, MSF share the challenges they face with us and together we find solutions.
Since 2012, Herbert Smith Freehills has worked with MSF across our network to provide pro-bono legal assistance, annual financial contributions, information sessions for HSF staff on MSF’s work around the world, delivering effective meeting and libel training, participating in ‘mapping’ events and a day’s training at the logistics and training centre at MSF's headquarters in Brussels. Herbert Smith Freehills where possible also provides in-kind support by hosting International Women's Day Events, Executive Briefing sessions for MSF donors and staff planning/development days in our offices.
MSF Australia is 100 percent supported by private donations and accordingly we are highly appreciative of the support we receive from our donors and the relationships we develop with them. This is not better exemplified than through the partnership that we have with HSF – a multifaceted partnership based on trust and mutual respect for professionalism and, a collaborative outward focus on facilitating resource efficient activities that have a positive impact on people in need. I continue to be genuinely impressed by the breadth and depth of legal and other support offered by HSF to NGOs tasked with creating constructive social change.
