William advises on a range of issues and transactions across a number of industries, including public company takeovers and schemes, negotiated acquisitions and divestments, equity capital market transactions and general corporate law.
William’s recent experience includes advising:
- Healthscope on its response to the approaches from the BGH-AusSuper Consortium and Brookﬁeld and the successful $4.4 billion scheme of arrangement and simultaneous takeover bid by Brookﬁeld
- Wesfarmers on its $19 billion demerger of Coles, for which the Herbert Smith Freehills team won the M&A Deal of the Year Award and the overall Australian Deal of the Year Award at the 2019 Australasian Law Awards
- Aconex on its $1.6 billion acquisition by Oracle by way of scheme of arrangement
- Alinta Energy and its shareholders on the sale of Alinta to Chow Tai Fook Enterprises (and the dual-track initial public offering process)
William holds a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from Monash University.
William is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria and the Federal and High Courts of Australia.
