Scott has led both the Global Corporate practice and the UK Corporate practice, as well as heading the firm's Client & Sector programme and spending time as a member of the Partnership Council. He is an expert in leading complex change programmes within professional services organisations.
Scott is also a leading asset management and investment funds lawyer, advising clients in the asset management sector on a broad range of corporate matters. In particular, he now focuses on combining his deep sectorial knowledge with his executive experience to be able to advise boards and asset managers on complex strategic issues.
Scott’s expertise in the asset management sector has been recognised over many years in Chambers and Legal 500 and he has been a regular speaker on industry issues over the years.
He is senior non-executive director of a listed investment trust company and sat for a number of years on the Association of Investment Companies Technical Committee.
Scott’s experience includes advising:
- many asset managers and financial sponsors on fund establishment and capital raising
- numerous fund boards on complex corporate actions including restructurings, mergers, shareholder disputes and corporate governance issues
- asset managers on a wide range of contractual and regulatory issues in the asset management sector.
Scott holds a first class degree in Law and Politics from Durham University and has also completed the Leading Professional Service Firms course at Harvard Business School.
