Renee is a Solicitor in the Alternative Legal Services (ALT) Dispute practice.
She has varied and diverse experience across different jurisdictions which helps provide a well-rounded service to clients.
Her experience ranges from private practice in litigation, civil service investigatory/regulatory work, public inquiries and policy development.
She has appeared in all levels of the New Zealand Court system, including the Court of Appeal, High Court, District Court and Family Court.
In addition to her New Zealand experience, she worked in the UK Competition and Markets Authority in the Anti-Trust team, investigating breaches of competition law. She later became the lead policy adviser on tax law and corporate/commercial law for a large professional membership organisation within the legal industry. She had the privilege to work on the Infected Blood Inquiry alongside some of the infected and affected participants in their quest to achieve justice for historical and systemic wrongs committed in the 1980s and 1990s that led to people contracting HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and B from contaminated blood products under the NHS.
In the Republic of Ireland, Renee also worked on contaminated blood compensation cases within the Compensation Tribunal, as well as general medical negligence and personal injury claims.
Since joining Herbert Smith Freehills in October 2020, Renee has worked on the establishment and implementation of a large-scale compensation scheme.
Renee is a New Zealand qualified lawyer and has over 12 years of combined experience, including dispute resolution, policy development and litigation within the industry across multiple international jurisdictions.
