Paula McVeigh
Paula is a Senior Former Practising Barrister within the ALT Disputes practice.
She is responsible for fee earning work on Disputes projects, mainly in a quality control role, and assisting managers and senior managers with the day-to-day running of projects.
Her background as a barrister assists in managing caseloads, building trust and rapport with internal and external clients and applying legal principles to the facts of particular projects.
Paula's experience is focussed on disputes including high-profile remediation schemes and complex document reviews. Within her experience of claims assessments, she has also assisted in the dispute resolution process which involves meetings with applicants and the client directly and is a new type of product offering for the firm.
She is currently a member of the Belfast office's Gender Equity Matters (GEM) Network.
Since joining Herbert Smith Freehills in February 2016, Paula has worked on a number of projects including:
- A large claims assessment project
- A remediation scheme for a large, retail client, including legal analysis and drafting and the dispute resolution process of the scheme.
- Complex, large scale document reviews including quality control work.
- Bespoke projects and new product offerings, including managing more junior team members.
Background
Paula has 14 years' post-qualification experience in the legal industry. Prior to joining Herbert Smith Freehills, she worked as a self-employed Barrister in Northern Ireland with extensive experience in a number of areas of law, including civil litigation.
