Experience

Oliver is a senior associate in the Madrid dispute resolution team, where he specializes in arbitration.

Oliver has over seven years of experience practicing arbitration. He has acted as counsel, arbitrator, administrative secretary or assistant to the tribunal in more than 40 cases under the rules of the main institutions and under various applicable laws in Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. He has also participated in court proceedings related to arbitration. He is ranked as a future leader in the field by Who's Who Legal.

Oliver is also an adjunct professor at IE University. He was co-chair of the young practitioners group of the Club Español del Arbitraje (CEA-40) in 2019-2020 and has been involved in projects of the IBA Arbitration Committee.

Oliver's experience includes:

  • representing a Chilean construction company in an arbitration against a Peruvian public body in relation to a dispute arising from a road construction agreement (ICC, Panama City, Peruvian law, Spanish)
  • representing a Colombian infrastructure concession company in an arbitration against a Spanish construction company in relation to a dispute arising from an EPC contract for the construction of motorways (ICC, Madrid, Colombian law, Spanish)
  • representing a Spanish company in an arbitration against a Spanish company in the renewable energy industry in relation to a dispute arising from the construction of various solar power plants (ICC, Madrid, Spanish law, Spanish)
  • representing a financial entity in an arbitration against a Spanish company in relation to the provision of investment services (CAM, Madrid, Spanish law, Spanish)
  • representing an Italian group in a USD1.2bn multi-party arbitration concerning a contract for the construction of a power plant (ICC, Santiago de Chile, Chilean law, Spanish)*
  • representing a Spanish company in an arbitration against an Asian company concerning a contract for the manufacture and delivery of aluminium cable (ICC, London, French law, English)*
  • representing four infrastructure companies from Latin America and Spain in an arbitration concerning a contract for the construction of a highway (ICC, Madrid, Costa Rican law, Spanish)*
  • acting as sole arbitrator in a dispute between two Spanish companies in relation to a services contract for the optimization of costs (CAM, Madrid, Spanish law, Spanish)
  • acting as sole arbitrator in a dispute between two individuals in relation to a lease agreement (CAM, Madrid, Spanish law, Spanish)*

Background

Oliver holds an LL.M. with specialization in corporate and commercial law from Maastricht University. He also holds a double degree in Law and Business Management from Universidad de Valladolid.
