Neil uses a commercial approach to advise clients on large and complex commercial disputes, especially in the mining, energy, construction and infrastructure sectors. Neil has advised clients on security of payment laws, insolvency and restructuring, royalties and taxation, and contractual disputes.
Neil is a member of HSF’s Brisbane office Community Committee, and is closely involved in the office’s community and pro bono work. Neil is particularly active in supporting one of HSF’s key charity partners, Yalari.
Neil’s experience includes:
- acting for a mining client in a judicial review proceeding in relation to a State revenue audit, reaching a commercial settlement
- advising a major contractor in a $15 million security of payment dispute in relation to a large piece of public infrastructure
- advising an international mining and energy client in an $18 million security of payment dispute relating to an engineering design contract
- advising the board of directors of an agriculture cooperative in relation to entry into safe harbour protection under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth)
Neil holds a Master of Laws (Juris Doctor) from Monash University and a Bachelor of Business from Monash University.
Neil is qualified as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia.
