A Senior Associate in the Herbert Smith Freehills tax disputes practice, Natalie has more than ten years of experience advising Australia’s largest companies and multinationals on their most complex and highest profile regulatory investigations.
Natalie is particularly well-regarded by clients for her expertise in relation to the use of the ATO’s investigation powers and the preparation of evidence to support taxpayer’s positions. She has assisted a variety of clients with complex audits and various investigations, with expertise across the banking and financial services, mining and e-commerce. Natalie has developed particular expertise in relation to the treatment of R&D activities, having advised on matters involving this issue across a variety of sectors.
In 2019, Natalie also completed a secondment to a major Australian bank’s regulatory investigation team where she was involved in complex regulatory investigations. This experience demonstrated Natalie’s practical and commercial mind-set, as well as her excellent technical legal skills.
