Nick specialises in equity capital markets, mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions.

Nick is a solicitor in the Corporate group in Herbert Smith Freehills’ Melbourne office. He specialises in equity capital markets and mergers and acquisitions transactions and advises both listed and unlisted companies in relation to fundraisings, acquisitions and disposals, corporate restructures and other corporate transactions and advisory work.

Nick has assisted numerous clients across a wide range of industries and sectors on public and private mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings and secondary capital raisings. 


Nick holds a Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne. 

Nick is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia.

  • Origin Energy Limited on its proposed $18.7 billion acquisition by Brookfield and EIG Partners, including a client secondment to advise Origin Energy on the transaction; 
  • Scientific Games Corporation on the ASX IPO aspect of its dual track sale process for its global lotteries business in 2021, resulting in a sale for US$6.05 billion to Brookfield; 
  • Carbon Revolution Limited on its de-SPAC transaction by way of scheme of arrangement (the second of its kind in Australia) and NASDAQ listing, with an estimated post-transaction equity valuation of US$300 million;
  • Sims Metal Limited on the sale of its 50% interest in LMS Energy Pty Ltd for $275 million acquisition to Pacific Equity Partners; 
  • 29 Metals Limited on its $180 million fully underwritten accelerated non-renounceable entitlement offer; and 
  • Goldman Sachs and MST Financial in relation to Pointsbet’s $400 million underwritten placement and accelerated pro rata renounceable entitlement offer.
