Miguel Ángel is a senior associate specializing in advising and providing oversight to equity sponsors, major corporations, global investment banks, public entities and public authorities in relation to general regulatory law (e.g. administrative procedure, permitting, sanctioning proceeding, permitting, etc.), data protection regulations, data privacy and digital matters, at a national and international level, as well as litigation and arbitration matters related to the above.
He shares his knowledge as a lecturer in several specialized programmes and masters courses.
Prior to joining Herbert Smith Freehills, Miguel Ángel worked for another international law firm as a Senior Associate in the Public law and Regulated Sectors department.
Miguel Ángel’s experience includes advising the following:
- A multinational technology company on all the legal aspects related to the potential acquisition of a minority stake on a company that allows customers to get on-demand products through an online app (connecting users, businesses and couriers), which conducts its business through a number of subsidiaries located in different countries (among others, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Poland and Ukraine).
- An international video game company on all the legal aspects related to the establishment and launch of its online game business in Spain.
- An energy company on all the legal aspects related to the design and creation of an energy online trading company.
- A leading private equity fund on the acquisition of a fibre optic operator in the telecommunications market.
Miguel Ángel graduated in Law from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and in an advanced International Law from Oriel College, Oxford, as well as an Energy Law Programme from the Instituto de Empresa. He also holds an advanced corporate law programme from the Centro de Estudios Financieros and a DPO course (Certification Scheme of Data Protection Officer - AEPD).
He speaks Spanish and English.
