Matteo is on secondment to our Pro Bono Practice and works across matters for our global impact investment and social finance practice, HSF Impact, and the firm’s Charities Practice

Matteo's experience includes advising:

  • A high-profile impact investment fund on its acquisition of a minority equity stake in a social enterprise based in the UK, and associated issues related to exit mechanics, shareholder rights, and governance matters
  • WeWALK, a “tech-for-good” start up supported by the Social Tech Trust and Microsoft through their “AI For Good” programme, on its series A investment round and associated issues related to exit mechanics, shareholder rights, and governance matters of its minority investors
  • A “tech-for-good” start up, with investment from Big Issue Invest and Mustard Seed Impact VC, on corporate and commercial matters related to the creation of a new app designed to repurpose its existing technology in response to the COVID-19 pandemic
  • The Big Issue Group on the development of The Big Exchange, a financial marketplace providing access to ESG and impact investment opportunities for retail investors
  • The Stone Family Foundation in relation to programme-related and mixed motive investments, and its wider social investment strategy
  • UnLtd in relation to arrangements with its partners, funders, investees and volunteers
  • The Social Tech Trust in relation to social investments and arrangements with the Social Tech Venture Fund
  • The United Nations Refugee Agency in relation to the launch of its global consumer goods platform MADE51 and the establishment of its UK-based charity
  • Jangala on a review of its terms and conditions, and associate corporate and commercial law matters
  • United Kingdom for UNHCR on the terms of various commercial agreements with service providers, and charity law issues
  • Anti-Slavery International on the terms of various commercial agreements with retailers regarding anti-slavery safeguards
  • Numerous charities on incorporation, charitable registration, social investment, corporate governance and the duties of charitable trustees

 

Background

Matteo holds an MA Cantab (Hons) Law from Pembroke College Cambridge, and completed the Legal Practice Course in 2014. Matteo is admitted to practise in England and Wales.
