Mariia is a dual-qualified solicitor in our Melbourne office, specialising in international arbitration.

Mariia is trained in both common law and civil law systems, and she benefits from a range of experience across multiple sectors and jurisdictions. She speaks and writes on international arbitration issues, and actively participates in industry events worldwide. In addition to English, her working languages include Ukrainian, German and Russian.

Mariia is a member of the Arbitration Committee of the International Bar Association. She is also a Fellow at TradeLab, a Geneva-based NGO focused on international trade and investment law. Mariia is a finalist in the ‘Rising Star – Large Law Firm’ category for the Women & Diversity in Law Awards 2024.

Background

Mariia holds a Juris Doctor from Monash University and a Master of Laws from University of Melbourne. She also holds a Bachelor of Laws from Kyiv National Economics University and a Master of Laws from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Additionally, Mariia has studied international arbitration at the University of Oxford, The Hague Academy of International Law, Singapore International Arbitration Academy, and the CIDS Geneva Centre for International Dispute Settlement.

Mariia is dual-qualified in Australia and Ukraine. She is admitted to practice in Australia and is on the High Court Register of Practitioners.

Prior to relocating to Australia, Mariia was a Senior Associate at the Supreme Court of Ukraine and a Senior Consultant at the High Council of Justice.
