Mariah is an experienced Solicitor in the Alternative Legal Services Disputes practice in Australia.

Mariah is responsible for supervising legal analysts on high volume and document-intensive legal work, including large-scale litigation, arbitration, internal and external investigations, and contentious regulatory matters, and works closely with clients and teams across the Herbert Smith Freehills global network to deliver high quality support on domestic and international matters. 

Mariah has a keen interest in how technology can be used to improve access to justice and was seconded to Justice Connect’s Innovation team in 2023. During her secondment, she utilised her legal experience to drive innovation across a range of ongoing projects, including working on an AI model that diagnoses legal problems in natural language, a platform supporting law firm’s pro bono practices and a range of interactive self-help tools.

Prior to joining Herbert Smith Freehills in 2021, Mariah practiced exclusively in criminal law where she appeared and instructed in trials, committals, appeals and contraventions proceedings across the Supreme, County and Magistrates’ Courts.

Mariah holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of International Studies from the University of Adelaide.
