Lisa Filippin

Senior Associate

Lisa is a Senior Associate in the Disputes team, specialising in commercial litigation and insolvency.



Lisa assists clients with commercial disputes, insolvency-related matters and insolvency appointments. She has worked with a number of Australia’s leading companies on commercial litigation matters in Victorian and federal courts. Lisa has also worked with creditors, directors, companies and external administrators in corporate restructuring and insolvency contexts.   
Lisa’s commercial litigation experience expands across a number of sectors, including consumer products, banks, energy and technology, media and communications. She has worked on a number of class actions, including a product liability class action and a shareholder class action. 
Lisa’s insolvency experience involves advising clients on directors’ duties, insolvency risks and the impacts of an insolvency appointment. She has worked on a number of insolvency appointments acting for a variety of stakeholders, including working with a number of Australia’s leading insolvency practitioners.   
Lisa’s experience includes acting for:
  • the Commonwealth Bank of Australia in proceedings commenced in the Supreme Court of Victoria against former entities, directors and officers that operated a large accounting practice in Victoria and New South Wales
  • the liquidators of a group of companies in its proceedings against the former auditors of the companies 
  • a major creditor in an application to the Federal Court of Australia to remove a liquidator from office 
  • Telstra Corporation Limited in defending a proceeding in the Federal Court of Australia, involving an urgent interlocutory application for injunctive relief. 



Lisa holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from Monash University and a Bachelor of Arts, Diploma of Modern Languages (Japanese) and Graduate Diploma of Teaching from the University of Melbourne. 

Lisa is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and holds an Advanced Certificate in Insolvency with the Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association (ARITA). She is a member of both the AICD and ARITA.
