Experience

Leone has experience in advising on major commercial property transactions in Australia,  including acquisitions, disposals and development. Clients have recognised Leone’s ability to manage timing pressures and deadlines and to communicate complicated matters clearly and concisely.

Leone has provided extensive advice in relation to the acquisition of all types of property assets including by way of share sale and asset sale transactions. She has been involved in planning, co-ordinating and conducting large vendor, purchaser and financier due diligence processes. This has included establishing procedures and protocols for electronic data rooms and setting up tailored reporting formats for delivery of information to clients.

Leone also works closely with the Herbert Smith Freehills Insolvency team on insolvency matters involving property assets.

Leone's experience includes:

  • acting for QIC in the 2013 acquisition and leaseback to the State of a portfolio of eight State Government commercial buildings in the Brisbane CBD
  • acting for QIC, Federation Centres, Propertylink and Investa Property Group on acquisitions and disposals of large retail, commercial and industrial properties across Australia
  • advising on property law requirements in two large forestry transactions, the Campbell Group & Commonwealth Government’s Future Fund on their purchase of the South Australian green triangle softwood plantation forestry assets and the Queensland State Government in the A$603 million sale of Forestry Plantations (Qld) to Hancock Timber Resource Group.

Leone is a Queensland Law Society Accredited Specialist in Property Law and a member of the Tax Institute. Leone has worked on secondment with Greenwoods & Herbert Smith Freehills’ for six months to obtain property tax law experience.

Leone also provides pro bono legal advice to a number of clients including Ronald McDonald House, Youngcare and St Vincent de Paul.

Background

Leone holds a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Business Accounting (Honours) from the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane and has undertaken studies in property economics.
