Laura is a partner in our Milan office, helping clients protect and commercialise intellectual property and find regulatory solutions.



Specialising in contentious and non-contentious intellectual property, Laura has a focus on patent and regulatory law in the life sciences sector. In this field she has acted in some of the highest profile multi-jurisdictional patent cases, including in the context of the SPC Regulation, and has assisted major pharmaceutical companies in connection with patent expiry of top selling drugs. She also advises on regulatory matters, particularly at the interface with patent law.

In addition to advising on patent and SPC matters, Laura has advised many of the largest pharma and biotech companies on a range of regulatory issues including product life cycle management, routes for obtaining marketing authorisations, data exclusivity provisions, supplementary protection certificates, orphan designations, good manufacturing practice compliance certificates, pricing and reimbursement.

Laura has experience in a broad cross-section of industries, notably TMT and electronics, chemicals, consumer products, fashion and industrial design.

Laura is recommended as a leading patent lawyer and life sciences specialist by international and Italian directories including Chambers and Partners, MIP's Expert Guide to the World's Leading Patent Law Practitioners, IAM Patent 1000. Laura has been ranked as one of Italy's 50 most influential lawyers of 2018 by Legal Community MAG.

In 2015 and 2018, Laura was the exclusive winner for Italy of the International Client Choice Awards in the Healthcare & Life Sciences category and recently won the 2018 Intellectual Property (Patents) - best lawyer award for Italy. She was recently named Biomedical Lawyer of the Year at the TopLegal Awards Italy, and Life Sciences Lawyer of the Year at the Italian Legal Community Awards.

Managing Intellectual Property has listed Laura in the “IP Stars” handbook, calling her “formidable”. Chambers 2016 describe her as "intelligent," "proactive" and "an excellent professional." Clients comment that she is “appreciated for her clear and concise communication as well as her deep specialisation in IP” and that she is “particularly strong in pharmaceutical patent issues” (Chambers Europe 2015). She has been lauded as “efficient and business-oriented” and “a shrewd litigator of many years’ standing” (IAM 2015). 

Laura's experience includes advising:

  • a leading pharmaceutical company in a multi-jurisdictional revocation and non-infringement action concerning key patents in the ophthalmic field*
  • one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in revocation proceedings in relation to patents and SPCs protecting biggest selling anti-HIV product*
  • a pharmaceutical company specialising in the central nervous system in relation to various patent and SPC expiry issues*
  • an Israel-based consumer products manufacturer in various patent and design infringement cases*
  • a world leading cosmetics manufacturer in preliminary injunction proceedings for trademark infringement*

Laura graduated with honours from the University of Pavia and the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, Laura also holds a doctorate in Contentious Law from the University of Bologna. 

Laura is Executive Secretary of the Life Sciences Industry Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy. She also is a member of IPO, EPLAW and AIPPI.
