Laura completed her training contract with Herbert Smith Freehills and qualified into the Intellectual Property team in 2019. With a Master's degree in engineering and experience in programming, Laura advises on technical and legal aspects of intellectual property matters, including patent and software disputes.
Laura has experience in contentious and non-contentious intellectual property and cyber security matters, and has worked on high profile patent litigation. Laura also spent time on secondment to the disputes team at BAE Systems.
Laura's experience includes advising:
- a multinational energy company on defending a commercial dispute, involving confidential information, trade secrets, technology patents and sui generis database rights
- a global life sciences company on multi-jurisdictional pharmaceutical patent litigation
- a fintech startup in relation to a contractual and software development dispute
- a global technology company on software, cyber security and data protection issues
Laura graduated from the University of Southampton with a Master's degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Laura was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2019.
