Kara has contributed to a number of significant commercial litigation matters in the State Supreme Courts and the Federal Court of Australia and defended regulatory investigations. Kara works across a broad range of sectors with a particular focus on major securities and product liability litigation.
Major clients Kara has acted for include Westpac Banking Corporation, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Bayer AG and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Kara’s recent experience includes the following matters:
- Commonwealth Bank of Australia: defending two shareholder class actions in Australia, raising claims in relation to the Bank’s AML/CTF compliance and disclosures
- UGL Limited: defending a shareholder class action in relation to the Ichthys LNG project.
- Bayer AG in relation to a large product liability class action.
Kara holds a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours and Bachelor of Journalism with Distinction. Kara was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and is qualified as an Australian legal practitioner in New South Wales and the High Court of Australia.
