Junyeon is a disputes lawyer specialising in corporate crime and investigations.

Junyeon advises businesses on white-collar crime and internal investigations, focusing on antibribery and anticorruption legislation compliance, including the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

She conducts compliance assessments and advises on the creation and implementation of compliance programmes.

Junyeon has extensive experience in internal investigations, compliance advice and white-collar crime, as well as US litigation and international arbitration involving global businesses.

Background

Junyeon graduated with a bachelor's degree in political science and economics from Seoul National University and a juris doctor degree from the New York University School of Law.  

Before law school, Junyeon served as a foreign service officer for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea. She is licensed in New York and in Japan as a Registered Foreign Lawyer (Gaikokuho Jimu Bengoshi). She is fluent in English, Korean and Japanese.

  • represented a global technology company in multiple internal investigations of alleged bribery and employee corruption
  • represented a global entertainment company in an internal investigation of its Japanese subsidiary, in parallel with a criminal investigation by the Tokyo Public Prosecutors Office. The criminal investigation was closed without an indictment
  • represented a global automotive company in an internal investigation of misconduct by its executives, in parallel with a criminal investigation by the Tokyo Public Prosecutors Office and the US Securities Exchange Commission
  • represented a global investment firm in an internal investigation of employee misconduct
  • represented LG Energy Solution in a Section 337 investigation involving misappropriation of trade secrets claims related to lithium-ion batteries, resulting in a US$1.8 billion settlement for the client
  • represented Sumitomo Electric Industries in its defence against two multi-district class actions alleging a global bid-rigging and price-fixing conspiracy
