Experience
John advises on debt capital markets and banking and finance matters, including Islamic finance, project finance and real estate finance.
He has advised banks on corporate loans and Sukuk issuances as well as government guaranteed debt issuances and facilities undertaken by government linked companies.
John also has experience in commercial and employment litigation, and has represented multinational corporations and banks in general debt recovery, foreclosure, bankruptcy and winding-up proceedings.
His experience includes advising:
- a global infrastructure management company on the proposed acquisition of a retail mall in Jakarta, Indonesia
- an independent power producer on the issuance of global bonds of up to US$350 million for the refinancing of its coal power plant in Indonesia
- an airline company on various aircraft redeliveries
Background
John obtained his bachelor's degree in law from King's College London. He was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 2011 and the Ontario bar in 2015.
John is fluent in English and Malay.
