As part of the Banking & Finance practice group, Isa has advised a range of clients on large and sophisticated matters across the banking, finance, and government sectors. This has included advising on transactions relating to loan facilities and refinancing, real estate finance, structured finance, business banking, and contracts relating to whole-of-government banking and financial services.
Isa is also involved with business development initiatives relating to Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, and is a member of the firm’s Virtual Legal Team, which works to facilitate the implementation of the Australian National Blockchain (a consortium between CSIRO, Data 61, IBM, and Herbert Smith Freehills to build a blockchain-based smart contract platform for clients).
In addition to his work in the Banking & Finance team, Isa is a member of the HSF Brisbane Community Committee and Social Committee, and is involved in the office’s community and pro bono work, actively supporting a number of key charity partners.
Isa’s experience includes:
- advising the State of New South Wales on its procurement of whole-of-government banking and financial services
- advising an international investment management firm specialising in debt investment, infrastructure and private equity on its recent refinancing of syndicated facilities
- advising both lender and borrower side clients in relation to business banking and real-estate finance
- advising on and assisting private corporations with corporate and lender consent requirements in relation to mergers & acquisitions processes
Isa holds a Bachelor of Laws with distinction from Griffith University, and a Bachelor of International Relations (International Governance and Diplomacy) from Bond University.
Isa is admitted in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia.
