Yu Xuan advises corporate borrowers and lenders on complex cross-border financing transactions.

Yu Xuan works closely with financial institutions and corporate borrowers in various industries on a wide range of debt financing transactions. He has experience in real estate and asset financing transactions, shariah-compliant financing, onshore-offshore financings and green and sustainability-linked financings.

Background

Yu Xuan holds a Bachelor of Laws from the National University of Singapore and was admitted to the Singapore Bar in 2020.

Prior to joining Herbert Smith Freehills, Yu Xuan was part of a Band 1 ranked banking and finance practice in one of Singapore's largest law firms.

  • acted for a club of banks on the secured offshore facilities granted to a leading developer to refinance the acquisition and development costs of prime real estate in Pudong, Shanghai, as part of an onshore-offshore financing transaction*
  • acted for the borrower in respect of the green loan facilities taken out to finance its development of a logistics complex in Indonesia*
  • acted for a syndicate of conventional and Islamic financiers on the secured green hybrid loan facilities (consisting of conventional loan and Islamic commodity Murabahah facilities) for the purposes of financing the acquisition of real estate in Singapore and its redevelopment into a residential project*
  • acted for a club of lenders on the secured bridge loan facility extended to a property-owning group of companies, in connection with the group's acquisition by a regional property developer*
  • acted for a syndicate of local and international banks on the S$978 million syndicated sustainability-linked loan facilities extended to OUE Commercial REIT and OUE Hospitality Sub-Trust*
