Glenn Kembrey


Glenn is an associate within our Japan dispute resolution practice. 



Glenn is an associate within the dispute resolution practice in Tokyo, with experience in international arbitration and litigation. He has experience working on matters in the TMT, automobile, construction and pharmaceutical sectors. Prior to joining the Tokyo Office of Herbert Smith Freehills, Glenn worked in London and Paris as an associate at a leading international law firm.
Glenn is a native English speaker. He also speaks fluent Japanese, and holds a Level 1 JLPT certification in Japanese (日本語能力試験一級). He also has fluent proficiency in French (DALF C2).
Glenn’s experience include assisting: 
  • a Japanese technology company in SIAC arbitration in respect of claims concerning termination of licenses affecting its Indonesian subsidiary. 
  • an international automobile company on its defence in a class action suit on issues arising out of parts manufactured by a third party distributor used in its vehicles. 
  • an international consortium on its defence in a SIAC arbitration in relation to the construction of a petrochemical complex.
  • a pharmaceutical company in an policy compliance investigation.


Glenn is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales, as well as in New South Wales, Australia.

Glenn holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons I) degree from the University of Sydney. He also holds a Master of Public International Law from the University of Strasbourg.
