Dongho practices primarily in the areas of cross-border M&A transactions and private equity investments, including complex, multijurisdictional corporate transactions on behalf of Korean and global clients.
Dongho has significant experience advising Korean and global clients on their corporate transactional matters across the globe, including mergers & acquisitions, strategic alliances, joint ventures and private equity investments. His clients include many of the largest Korean corporations, top-tier global financial institutions and leading private equity funds.
In addition, Dongho has advised on numerous capital markets transactions, including Rule 144A/Regulation S equity, debt and equity-linked offerings.
During the course of his career, Dongho has advised on numerous transactional matters including the following:
- a Korean financial buyer on various M&A and equity investment transactions including its acquisition of infrastructure assets in the Middle East and a renewable asset in Australia
- Samsung Electronics on the US$1.4 billion sale of its hard disk drive (HDD) business to Seagate Technology, a NASDAQ-listed manufacturer of HDD and storage solutions, and extending and enhancing the existing patent cross-license agreement between the companies. This transaction was awarded “Deal of the Year 2011” by Asian-MENA Counsel
- Hanwha Chemical Co., Ltd., a leading global chemicals company headquartered in Korea, on its US$370 million strategic equity investment in Solarfun, a NASDAQ-listed vertically integrated PRC manufacturer of silicon ingots, wafers and photovoltaic cells and modules
Prior to joining Herbert Smith Freehills, Dongho worked at other global law firms and a major Korean law firm. Dongho is admitted in all courts of New York as an attorney and counsellor at law.
His education includes; Georgetown University Law Center, J.D. and Seoul National University, B.A. in Economics.
