Benjamin is a senior associate in the finance practice with a focus on securitisation and structured finance.

Benjamin specialises in securitisation and structured finance, including public and private securitisations, portfolio acquisitions, warehouse lending, and forward flow transactions. He has acted on transactions covering a wide range of asset types, including auto hire purchase receivables, residential and commercial mortgages, real estate development finance receivables, consumer loans, student loans, credit card receivables and non-performing exposures. Benjamin also has prior experience acting for investment managers on CLOs and related warehouse financings, as well as advising on whole business securitisations and restructurings of securitisations.

Background

Benjamin joined the firm in 2022, having previously trained and worked at leading UK- and US-headquartered law firms in London, including secondments to Moscow and Milan. He is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales. He also speaks Italian, as well as some German, French and Spanish.

Benjamin studied for an MA in Modern and Medieval Languages (German and Italian) and an MPhil in European Literature and Culture at St John's College, University of Cambridge, and then studied law at the University of Law in London. He also previously worked at a leading legal technology start-up and has some computer programming experience, and he remains keenly interested in the application of new technologies within the legal and financial industries and beyond.

  • UK Mortgage Lending Limited (formerly Optimum Credit Limited) as originator and seller in connection with the full lifecycle of securitisation, from warehouse transactions to public RMBS transactions (Polaris 2022-2 RMBS), as well as the call and refinancing of previously issued public securitisations
