Anne Petitjean


Anne Petitjean is a partner in our real estate practice in Paris.



Anne advises investors (French overseas and foreign investment funds as well as listed real estate companies) on acquisitions and transfers of real estate portfolios. In addition, she also has a strong track record in advising on major development projects including various types of property assets. Within this field, her practice covers town-planning, urban development and construction transactions essentially for international clients investing in France. Anne has also developed strong expertise in the commercial lease field and assists clients on the negotiation of contracts. Furthermore, Anne advises on the real estate aspects of renewable energy projects.

Recent experience in investments (sales and acquisitions) includes advising:

  • La Française REP on the acquisition from the Groupe Legendre of an office building in Bordeaux. (8,500 sq. m)
  • La Française REP on the acquisition of an office building in Lyon rented out to EDF (12,000 sq. m)
  • a Canadian Pension Fund on the acquisition from a local public authority of large properties for the Greater Paris real estate programme 
  • a major French developer on the acquisition from a local public authority of large properties for the development of a housing programme with more than 2,000 housings in Seine Saint-Denis near Paris

Recent experience in development and construction projects includes advising:

  • The Ritz Hotel Limitedon the renovation works of the hotel located Place Vendôme, Paris
  • a major French developer in relation to the construction of a 45,000 sq. m real estate complex in Bordeaux
  • one of the top French luxury fashion houses on the refurbishment and development of its luxury retail boutiques and iconic head office in Paris
  • a French institution on the development of a real estate project with 60,000 sq. m of offices in the Paris suburbs. Not sure many people will know Issy

Recent experience in leasing projects includes advising:

  • Amundi Immobilier on the negotiation of several commercial leases for offices within the Egée Tower in La Défense business district
  • a French listed real estate company on the audit of commercial leases for over 120 shopping centres

Recent experience in renewable energy projects includes advising:

  • Groupe Crédit Agricole (Unifergie) on the financing of a portfolio of photovoltaic farms located in France
  • a major European company in the energy sector on the purchase of a developer in the renewable energy sector operating more than 180 power plants (solar, wind, biogas, etc.) and developing a pipeline of power plants of more than 2 GW for 2022
  • a major European company in the energy sector on the acquisition of a portfolio of 500 MW onshore wind turbines through the acquisition of 100% of the shares of a family business in the energy sector



Anne joined Herbert Smith Freehills in March 2018 after 11 years in the real estate department of an international law firm.
