Angus specialises in commercial litigation with a focus on banking and financial services disputes.

Angus is a Senior Associate based in our Melbourne office.

Angus focused on delivering strong commercial outcomes and offers insight from his prior experience at a major law firm in Melbourne but also his time as a Senior Associate to a Judge in the Supreme Court of Victoria; a role which provided a unique opportunity to assist a judge of the highest level in Victoria (original jurisdiction), together with invaluable Court experience.

Angus advises banks on substantial pieces of litigation.  He was a member of the team that represented the RBS Group in defending actions brought by shareholder and investor groups in connection with its 2008 rights issue – one of the highest profile pieces of litigation in the UK in recent times.  He has also worked on a portfolio of High Court claims, defending a major UK bank from allegations of mis-selling interest rate hedging products.

Before joining Herbert Smith Freehills in 2016, Angus worked as a lawyer at a major law firm in Melbourne and was the Senior Associate to the Honourable Justice Rush at the Supreme Court of Victoria.
