Alvaro is real estate lawyer specialised in real estate transactions relating to a wide nature of assets as well as NPLs and real assets-backed corporate M&A transactions.

He advises both national and international clients on the acquisition of real estate portfolios (shopping centres, office buildings, logistic warehouses and hotels) and non-performing loans (NPLs), as well as advising on refinancing and mortgage-backed securities transactions. He also has vast  experience in commercial lease agreements, sale and leaseback transactions, joint venture agreements and other corporate transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions and private equity asset deals. He has reputed and comprehensive skills on leading due diligence teams and has participated in drafting legal opinions and giving general legal advice on licensing and planning matters.

Background

Álvaro has a degree in Law by Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain). He speaks Spanish, English and French. He is admitted to the Ilustre Colegio de la Abogacía de Madrid (ICAM – Madrid Bar Association).

He joined the firm in 2014 as an associate in the real estate practice after working for a leading multinational law firm for more than 6 years. After a short hiatus of almost two years (from 2017 to 2019) acting as legal counsel in the British shopping malls developer “Intu”, Alvaro re-joined the Madrid office again in July 2019 as a senior associate and promoted to Of counsel and head of the real estate funds practice in May 2020.

  • Renault Spain on the sale and leaseback of a warehouse located in Torres de la Alameda (Madrid) in the context of a tender process participated by various potential investors
  • FREO on the joint venture agreement with Bain Capital set up for the purposes of the acquisition and further redevelopment of the Estel office building, within the 22@ area of the city of Barcelona, with a joint investment of €120 million
  • Perial Asset Management (through, SCPI PFO) on the acquisition of the 5* Hotel "Dolce Sitges", located in Sitges, Barcelona, for an amount of €63 million, and subsequent lease to Hotusa under a long-term lease
  • a global American financial services firm on the refinancing of the debt of MiCampus group related to the acquisition, construction and/or development of several student housing residences located around Spain
  • RetailCo, Banco Santander's subsidiary, on the negotiation of a lease agreement with Serras Collection of an iconic building opposite the Cathedral of Seville that will be a 5* great luxury hotel
