Herbert Smith Freehills was awarded Middle East M&A Legal Adviser of the Year in the Industrials & Chemicals category at Mergermarket's inaugural Middle Eastern M&A Awards.

Herbert Smith Freehills was awarded Middle East M&A Legal Adviser of the Year in the Industrials & Chemicals category at Mergermarket's inaugural Middle Eastern M&A Awards.

The Middle East Corporate team won the award as recognition of their long-track record of continuously working on the most high-profile and significant deals in the sector, particularly within the last 12 months.

Within the last 12 months the team has advised Investcorp on its part-sale of Gulf Cryo, Chryso Group on its acquisition of Corrotech Qatar, JFE Steel Corporation and Marubeni-Itochu Steel on the establishment of a joint venture with Senaat, Al Nasser Industrial Enterprises' sale of Federal Transformers LLC and Federal Power Transformers LLC and LINPAC Group on its joint venture with Zultec Group to establish a PET thermoforming facility in Saudi Arabia.

Zubair Mir, head of the Middle East, commented, "it is an honour for Herbert Smith Freehills to receive this award, which is a reflection of our understanding of the common challenges faced by the manufacturing and industrial sector and our ability to provide clients with technical expertise and practical solutions when structuring and implementing M&A in this industry."

The award is a continuation of the Middle East Corporate team's great success in the region through our leading position in the independently published M&A league tables. Our recent rankings include:

  • Ranked, by deal volume, as the number one law firm for advising on completed M&A deals within emerging markets – Thomson Reuters M&A league tables, Q1 2016
  • Ranked, by deal volume, as one of the top three law firms for advising on completed M&A deals within the Middle East & North Africa – Thomson Reuters  and Bloomberg M&A league tables, Q1 2016
