Herbert Smith Freehills is pleased to welcome real estate expert Julie Jankowski back to its partnership after several years working in-house at the multinational construction and property group, Lendlease.
Ms Jankowski commenced her career at Herbert Smith Freehills as a senior associate in Brisbane in 2009 before moving to the firm's Sydney office in July 2013.
She became a partner in May 2014 and after two years joined Lendlease as their Head of Legal for the Development and Communities businesses.
Herbert Smith Freehills' Asia-Pacific head of real estate, David Sinn, said Ms Jankowski's return to the firm would enable its real estate team to maintain its market-leading position.
"I couldn't be more delighted that Julie will be returning to the Brisbane office, where she first joined our firm more than 10 years ago," Mr Sinn said.
"Julie has had an incredible career, from her work with law firms in the UK, her previous time at Herbert Smith Freehills and her new experience at Lendlease, and our clients will now benefit once more from her expertise."
Ms Jankowski will focus on major property and project development work, fund through transactions, sale and leaseback transactions, large-scale acquisitions and disposals of commercial property, international investment into Australia, joint ventures, commercial office and retail leasing and advising on major infrastructure projects in the Asia-Pacific region.
Ms Jankowski said she is excited to be returning to Herbert Smith Freehills and, in particular, to the Brisbane office of the firm.
"At Lendlease, the in-house legal team is high performing and well respected by the business. It is involved in all aspects of a deal from the outset to execution and I am excited to bring this corporate experience into my private practice career," she said.
