Herbert Smith Freehills and Greenwoods & Herbert Smith Freehills have won the Litigation and Disputes award for Australia at the International Tax Review Asia Tax Awards.

The honour was in recognition of outstanding local advice on litigation and disputes and was announced earlier this month at an event in Singapore.

Herbert Smith Freehills Asia and Australia Regional Managing Partner, Sue Gilchrist said the firm was delighted to receive the honour which was well-deserved recognition for an exceptional tax team, led by partner Hugh Paynter.

“This award recognises Herbert Smith Freehills’ outstanding client service when it comes to tax litigation and disputes. Our alliance with Greenwoods & Herbert Smith Freehills allows the two firms to work together to provide integrated and seamless taxation dispute services for our clients.

“This strategic and long-term relationship allows us to together provide clients with tax expertise across all areas of commercial law, including tax investigations and disputes.”

Ms Gilchrist said another key advantage for clients was the excellent relationships both firms have with the Australian Taxation Office, State and Territory Revenue Offices and State and Federal Treasuries.

“Clients benefit from our combined reputation for integrity and quality which helps them achieve their commercial objectives and timeframes,” Ms Gilchrist said.

The Asia Tax Awards were held in Singapore on May 5.
