After 17 successful years, Herbert Smith Freehills and leading Indonesian law firm Hiswara Bunjamin & Tandjung (HBT) have reviewed, strengthened and renewed their association agreement.

CEO Mark Rigotti and HBT managing partner Iril Hiswara signed the new agreement in Jakarta yesterday (18 July).

"When we started working together, HBT was a small start-up of respected lawyers and friends," explained Mark. "Now, 17 years later, that talented start-up has grown into one of the leading Indonesian law firms.

The new agreement upgrades the shared management of the association, formalizes collaboration on clients and target sectors, and extends the range of services, training and support available to HBT.

"The agreement needed to be refreshed – to reflect how much HBT has developed, and to support the next phase of our association together in Jakarta," said Justin D'Agostino, Managing Partner, Asia and Australia.

"Together we have the best and longest established association in Jakarta.; Our energy is now focused on what we can achieve together in the next 17 years, in one of the most important markets in our vibrant Southeast Asia practice.
