Herbert Smith Freehills Partner Laura Orlando has been named IP Lawyer of the Year 2019 at the prestigious LegalCommunity IP & TMT Awards in Italy. LegalCommunity is one of two leading Italian legal publishers and their Awards nights aim to bring out the excellence of the Italian legal market in the field of intellectual property.

Laura specialises in contentious and non-contentious intellectual property and focuses on patent and regulatory law in the life sciences sector. In this field she has acted in some of the highest profile multi-jurisdictional patent cases, including in the context of the SPC Regulation, and has assisted major pharmaceutical companies in connection with patent expiry of top selling drugs. She also advises on regulatory matters, particularly at the interface with patent law.

Adding to the Milan office's immense track record of achievements, this award closely follows Laura's 2018 Intellectual Property (Patents) - best lawyer award for Italy at the International Client Choice Awards as well as being named Biomedical Lawyer of the Year 2018 at the Italian TopLegal Industry Awards, and Life Sciences Lawyer of the Year 2018 at the LegalCommunity IP&TMT Awards.
