Herbert Smith Freehills has again been confirmed as the leading recruiter for law graduates in Australia placing first in the profession in the Top 100 Graduate Employers ranking. This is the third year in a row the firm has been voted the number one legal sector graduate recruiter.

The GradAustralia Top 100 Graduate Employers were announced at a ceremony in Sydney on Thursday 23 February by Emeritus Professor Mark Wainwright AM.

“We are delighted that Australian graduates have again voted us the top legal graduate employer of choice in Australia. Every year we welcome the best of the best graduates on board. We know the future leaders of our firm are among these people. Our job is to ensure they feel welcome to the Herbert Smith Freehills team, have the best possible experience in our leading graduate programme, learn and grow as much as they can and feel they are contributing to the firm from day one,” said Sue Gilchrist, Regional Managing Partner, Asia & Australia.

“The opportunities we provide to work on some of the most complex and challenging matters and transactions in the market for the best clients ensures our graduates learn, grow and excel while developing rich and lasting relationships with colleagues. Graduates are also attracted to our global reach and the chance to gain invaluable experience through our global secondments programme.”

“Being a lawyer is of course about more than just exceptional technical skill. We recruit graduates from a diverse range of backgrounds with fresh perspectives, intellectual curiosity and rigour and the ability to develop exceptional working relationships,” Ms Gilchrist added.

The Top 100 Graduate Employer Rankings are produced by GradAustralia as a result of an annual survey of 14,000 upcoming Australian graduates across a range of educational institutions. The survey explores career motivations and expectations, and asks students to nominate graduate employers that most appeal to them.
