Law360 has revealed its annual list of the top 20 law firms and has ranked Herbert Smith Freehills as number five in the world.
Climbing up the list by three places from last year, the firm has been showcased for having one of the greatest global offerings and a "proven ability to handle the most complex cross-border matters."
According to Law360, "Herbert Smith Freehills used its global reach to help clients connected to the investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election and to defend RBS in a high-profile action brought by thousands of investors over its £12 billion rights issue."
In addition to the firm's high-profile client work, Law360 highlighted Herbert Smith Freehills' recent office openings in Milan and Kuala Lumpur as well as the opening up of a second office in Sydney and in London as adding to our global offering.
To arrive at the Global 20 list, Law360 surveyed law firms about their global attorney headcounts, office locations and cross-border and international work between April 1, 2017 and March 31, 2018. Law360 then ranked participating firms based on five factors including: the percentage of the firm's attorneys located outside its home country; the number of offices outside the firm's home country; the number of countries where the firm has at least one office; the practice area breadth of the firm's cross-border and international work; and the size and complexity of the firm's cross-border and international work.
