Herbert Smith Freehills has acted for Aernnova Aerospace on its acquisition of a leading aerospace components manufacturing business from GE Aviation.

Headquartered in Spain, Aernnova is a tier 1 supplier to multiple civil and military programmes and has operations across eight countries and employs more than 4,700 people.

GE's Hamble facility is a leading supplier of major civil and military aircraft structures in hi-tech composites, metallic, acrylics and hybrid structures.

The acquisition of the Hamble facility is likely to increase Aernnova’s long-term, predictable revenues by approximately US$200 million per year, and also includes acquisition of assets in Suzhou, China.

The team included Mark Bardell, John Taylor, Sid Shukla and Ed Gainer (London) and Alberto Frasquet and Alejandra Romero (Spain).

Sid Shukla commented: "Deals like this and the Advent / Cobham deal in the last few weeks in the manufacturing space are an endorsement of the continued importance of the UK notwithstanding Brexit.  The UK continues to be one of the world’s largest aerospace and defence markets, with a highly skilled and expert workforce".
