"His excellent legal skills, problem-solving ability and industry experience will enable us to redouble our services to clients during one of the most tumultuous periods for the aviation industry."
A native of Vietnam, Duc begins his new role today, 17 January 2022. He joins Siva, partner Samuel Kolehmainen and a team of aviation and finance specialists in Singapore. The team advises aviation and finance clients across the globe, in close cooperation with the firm's other aviation finance teams based in London and Sydney.
"The Asia asset finance team has enjoyed great success and constant growth since its establishment in 2018," said Herbert Smith Freehills' Singapore managing partner Fatim Jumabhoy.
"Duc is a great addition to a very busy team, and his client and commercial understanding will only help the team expand farther.”
Duc graduated with bachelor's degrees in law from Hanoi University in Vietnam in 2008, and from the University of Law in the United Kingdom in 2011. He is qualified in England & Wales and Vietnam.
He has been with a leading aviation finance firm for ten years, during which time he worked in Bangkok, London and most recently Singapore. Duc was also seconded to aviation leasing industry leader GECAS in Singapore in 2017, working on a wide range of complex Asia aviation matters. Duc has recently been recognised in Chambers and Partners as having "highly valuable customer-focused communication and commitment."
