Herbert Smith Freehills Partner Chris Bushell has been elected as the new Vice-President of The London Solicitors Litigation Association (LSLA).

Chris, who is also the organisation's Membership Secretary, is a former member of the Junior LSLA Committee and has been actively involved with the LSLA for over 10 years.

He became a partner at Herbert Smith Freehills in 2014 and has been recognised in the leading directories, particularly for his work involving banks and financial buyers.

During his tenure as Vice-President of the LSLA, Chris will be working alongside other members to continue the thematic reform work pursued in previous years.

In particular, Chris is a member of the working group led by Mr Justice Popplewell, which is in the process of reviewing the current rules and practice and making recommendations for potential reform of the procedures for factual witness evidence in the Business and Property Courts.

The LSLA, which now has almost 3000 members, has a proud 60 year history of helping to shape civil justice reform and promoting best practice in litigation.

Commenting on his new role Chris says, "Being an active member of the LSLA for a number of years, I realise what an important role the organisation plays as a forum for civil and commercial litigators working at the centre of UK and International litigation and I am so pleased to be a part of it."

"In a time of relative uncertainty around Brexit, London continues to be a centre of excellence in regards to the reputation of its Court system and of English law, and will continue to remain the popular choice for parties doing business worldwide. It is also increasingly seen as innovative, forward-thinking, and modern and I think it is a truly exciting time for our profession."
