Research from The Lawyer has shown that Herbert Smith Freehills has more clients in the FTSE 100 than any other UK or US firm for the second consecutive year, advising 37 companies out of the FTSE 100. The FTSE is the index of the UK's biggest public companies traded on the London Stock Exchange.

The Lawyer's research shows that Herbert Smith Freehills leads the way in the manufacturing sector with seven relationships. Another seven of the firm's FTSE clients are from the banking and finance sector and six are from the energy sector.

Herbert Smith Freehills' top position in advising FTSE clients was further confirmed with data provided by Adviser Rankings Limited (ARL) showing that the Firm came second in the 4th quarter in 2016 for the total number of Stock Market clients. ARL provides comprehensive and real time data on corporate advisers and their UK quoted clients. Advisers are ranked by number of clients and clients’ market capitalisation, both by FTSE indices and FTSE Sectors.
