Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) has continued to strongly invest in its people and their careers, announcing the largest number of Australian senior associate promotions since 2015.

From 1 July, 56 skilled lawyers will have their hard work, talent and client focus recognised through the latest promotion round.

The announcement comes off the back of the firm’s partner and counsel promotions, both of which hit double-figures.

Fifty-five per cent of the new senior associates are women, underscoring the firm’s ongoing efforts to address gender equity.

Herbert Smith Freehills Executive Partner, Australia and Asia, Andrew Pike said that the number of senior associates promoted showed just how dedicated the firm was to supporting its people and their careers.

“You cannot be one of the world’s leading law firms without the world’s best people,” Mr Pike said.

“And to attract the best people, you need to show them just how serious you are about investing in them and their future.

“We want to help build long and rewarding careers - giving individuals the chance to work with the best partners, on the best work in the market, and supporting them with great development opportunities.”

The new senior associates are based across the firm’s Australian offices and bolster HSF’s capability across the board, especially in key growth areas such as private capital, energy transition and regulation.

“These lawyers each bring with them insights, diverse perspectives and a commitment to our clients that I believe is unmatched,” Mr Pike said.

“For our clients, it means having lawyers with the skills, commerciality, and growth mindset needed to help them navigate current and future opportunities.

“Our new senior associates should all be incredibly proud of this achievement, we certainly are.”
