Herbert Smith Freehills has received two accolades at the annual Aspiring Solicitors Awards.

The firm's approach to diversity and inclusion – and its success in attracting individuals from a broad range of communities and backgrounds – has been recognised with the 'All Star Award for Sustained Performance in Recruiting Outstanding Diverse Talent'. The achievement focuses on Herbert Smith Freehills' principle of 'leading for inclusion' – an approach which focuses on the power of a diverse team as a driver for innovation and collaboration. Among all other law firms that partner with Aspiring Solicitors, Herbert Smith Freehills scored the highest proportions of vacation scheme candidates and training contract offers for the 2020 recruitment year being Aspiring Soliticors' diverse members.

The firm also secured a second award, this being secured by graduate recruitment manager, Rebecca Worall. She received the 'All Star Individual Award' in recognition of her ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion and her determination to drive it forward within the legal profession. Rebecca's award follows nomination by students and legal professionals working with Herbert Smith Freehills as part of the firm's virtual internships scheme and trainee associate programme.

Commenting on the awards, Peter Chater, director of recruitment at Herbert Smith Freehills, says: "Winning one award is always a proud moment, but winning two is a clear demonstration that our commitment to building a diverse and inclusive workforce is having the desired effect. Our 10 Actions for Change remains a driving force as we continue to build a safe, supportive and respectful environment where everyone can contribute and feel valued. I am proud of Rebecca and the team and delighted that their efforts have been rewarded."
