Cada día está más presente el término blockchain en nuestras conversaciones, en los medios de comunicación e incluso en la estrategia de las empresas. Las transacciones realizadas online a través de la llamada "internet distribuida", junto con otros conceptos tales como los smart contracts, los tokens, las ICOs, las criptomonedas y otros tantos inherentes a la tecnología blockchain, requieren un detenido análisis para encajarlas dentro de las categorías jurídicas tradicionales y comprobar que no contravienen normas de derecho imperativo, especialmente en el ámbito financiero.

Blockchain is becoming increasingly present in our contemporary lexicon, in the media and as part of company strategy. Online transactions conducted over the distributed web, as well as other concepts such as smart contracts, tokens, ICOs, cryptocurrencies and a great many others inherent to blockchain technology, require close analysis to fit them into traditional legal categories and to check that they do not contravene the provisions of prevailing law, particularly financial legislation. In this video, Leopoldo González-Echenique, head of Madrid office's financial regulatory practice, speaks of the main legal challenges that blockchain will generate in the foreseeable future.
