Legal Briefings
In the Spring 2017 edition of the Herbert Smith Freehills European Private Equity Review we highlight legal developments with particular significance for European financial sponsors and share our experience of trends across the European private equity landscape and opportunities for potential growth.

In our first article we offer some practical tips for optimising the chances of achieving a successful transaction with Chinese buyers on inbound European acquisitions.

We then discuss various new tax measures arising out of the legitimate tax-optimisation schemes used by multinational companies which have come under increasing media scrutinity in recent years. We consider the background to this topical issue, before analysing the potential impact of some of these new measures on the private equity industry.

The third article, by our best friend law firm, WKB Wierciński Kwieciński Baehr, provides an overview of the private equity market in Poland and looks into certain issues which may be relevant for foreign investors, before outlining market practice with regard to deal terms and financing.

We conclude with analysis of the leveraged finance market in Spain, setting out key trends relevant to international private equity investors.
