Alix is a commercial litigator with a broad commercial disputes practice.

Alix has extensive experience in conducting litigation and international arbitrations across a range of jurisdictions, involving diverse subject matters and for clients in industry sectors ranging from financial services to engineering and construction.  Her background in general commercial litigation is combined with experience in advising on regulatory investigations and inquiries (including ASIC and the NSW Ombudsman), anti-money laundering / counter-terrorism financing (AML/CTF), coronial inquests and defamation proceedings.

Alix has practised in the commercial litigation groups of leading Australian and global commercial law firms, including secondments to the Office of General Counsel at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society and a position with Herbert Smith Freehills in Singapore.

 

Background

Alix holds a combined Bachelor of Arts (History) and Bachelor of Laws degree, both with First Class Honours, from the University of Sydney. 

She is admitted to practice as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of New South Wales, the Federal Court of Australia and the High Court of Australia.

  • Conducting expedited proceedings in the Commercial List of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the Court of Appeal on behalf of a developer seeking specific performance of a contract for the sale of land
  • Defending international arbitration proceedings brought against a major Australian engineering and infrastructure company in relation to the design and construction of a wood-fired boiler at a co-generation plant in Fiji
  • Defending proceedings brought against the former managing director of a financial services company providing trustee and responsible entity services for superannuation funds and managed investment schemes
