Leading global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills announced today the promotion of five new partners in Asia.

The new Asia partners are part of a 23-partner global promotion round this year, with promotions effective 1 May 2021.

The new partners are based across the firm’s Asia network, in Hong Kong, Seoul, Singapore and Tokyo, and advise local, regional and international clients.

2. Irina Akentjeva, Singapore
Irina advises energy sector clients across the Asia region and globally on major cross-border acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures and project development transactions. She has extensive experience advising clients in oil and gas (including LNG), power, infrastructure, mining and refining sectors, and on projects across the entire energy value chain (upstream, mid-stream and downstream).  Irina graduated from the University of Oxford with a bachelor’s degree in jurisprudence, is admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales, and is bilingual in English and Russian. She has been based in Singapore for over 10 years.

3. Antony Crockett, Hong Kong
Antony specialises in public international law and complex cross-border dispute resolution. He leads our global Business and Human Rights practice and is a member of the firm's ESG leadership group. Antony advises governments, international organisations and private sector clients on public international law matters, including investment treaty arbitration, State and diplomatic immunity, sanctions and embargoes. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Melbourne and a master’s degree in law from the London School of Economics. Antony is qualified in Australia (Victoria), England & Wales and the Hong Kong SAR.

4. Joseph Fisher, Tokyo
Joe advises on M&A, joint ventures and general corporate and commercial transactions. His clients include a number of major Japanese companies, and he advises on transactions in both developed and emerging markets, and across a wide range of sectors including consumer products, manufacturing and industrials, TMT and energy. Joe graduated with bachelors’ degrees in law and English literature from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. He is admitted to practice in New Zealand and in England & Wales and is a licensed Registered Foreign Lawyer (Gaikokuho Jimu Bengoshi) in Japan.

5. Dana Kim, Seoul
Dana specialises in international arbitration and corporate crime and investigations.  A skilled advocate with more than 12 years’ experience, she has worked on disputes across Asia, including in mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and South Korea. Dana graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Chinese language and literature from Korea University and a degree of juris doctor from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. She is dual-qualified in New York and England & Wales, and also sits as an arbitrator.

6. Jeremy Shen, Hong Kong
A graduate of the firm’s mainland China graduate trainee programme, Jeremy advises clients on cross-border M&A transactions, including private acquisitions, joint ventures and public takeovers.  He also has deep experience in advising investment banks and issuers on complex capital markets transactions, with a focus on listings on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.  Jeremy graduated with a bachelor’s degree in law from Peking University, China, and completed a graduate diploma in law and postgraduate diploma in legal practice from BPP Law School in London. Jeremy is qualified in Hong Kong and England & Wales, and is fluent in Cantonese, English, Mandarin and Shanghainese.
